In addition to his traditional roots, saxophonist Michael Villmow is also on a quest for new, extraordinary correlations that add new facets to conventional listening habits. To this end, elements of classical music expand Michael Villmow’s spectrum as a Jazz musician.

Together with cellist Gunther Tiedemann, Michael Villmow has established the Kreuzüber Bach duo (Crossover Bach), which combines the language of Johann Sebastian Bach’s music with its own compositions and improvisations.

As a soloist, he interprets both his own and other works in collaboration with various organists and ensembles.

Increasingly, Villmow is focussing on the improvisational exploration of specific performance situations, such as the special acoustics associated with church spaces or the dramatically artistic arrangement of the entire course of a concert.
